This physical brand presence for Gravity Coffee came about a year after we had successfully created and launched this café only brand. Quality control of the retail coffee experience was, to a great extent, in the hands of hundreds of baristas throughout the country – and the brand’s image for quality relied on their daily adherence to precision coffee delivery.
And so Gravity found a derelict bank vault space in the basement of the old Public Trust building in Auckland’s Mayoral Drive. The name ‘Centre of Gravity’ came very quickly, as did the decision that it needed to be a working café as well as a training centre. We took all our quirky brand attributes and replicated them in 3 dimensions.
